jessicavalenti:

The Obama campaign has released a video on how horrible Romney would be for American women. I certainly don’t need convincing - but if I did, this would likely do it.

Also, I am loving Obama’s “Truth Team”. (Not least of all because I’ve never understood why no other politicians have taken a similar tactic).

"Right now, $4 billion of your tax dollars subsidize the oil industry every year - $4 billion. They don’t need a subsidy. They’re making near-record profits. These are the same oil companies that have been making record profits off the money you spend at the pump for several years now. How do they deserve another $4 billion from taxpayers and subsidies? … It’s outrageous. It’s inexcusable. And every politician who’s been fighting to keep those subsidies in place should explain to the American people why the oil industry needs more of their money - especially at a time like this"

THAT is my President.

Now if we could just get this stuff to the folks who watch Fox News

WHY I SUPPORT OBAMA
1. For 30 years I’ve heard politicians talking about healthcare reform, and he’s the first one to do something about it. The Affordable Care Act removes restrictions on pre-existing conditions, makes healthcare more affordable for small businesses, raises the age at which children can be on their parents’ policies, removes lifetime caps, and more. With the possible exception of insurance execs, who would not want these changes?
2. He ended the war in Iraq and is drawing the war in Afghanistan to a close. Like he said he would.
3. He thinks women should have access to free preventative healthcare. Why is this still an issue?
4. He believes in equality for all people and signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to help women get equal pay for equal work and the repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy.
5. He is promoting and investing in clean energy jobs. Finally.
6. He supports education by giving more flexibility to No Child Left Behind (thank you!) and by making college aid more available.
7. He thinks millionaires and billionaires should pay their fair share of taxes like the rest of us. Really, this is a no brainer.
8. Despite inheriting one of the worst economic messes since the Great Depression, he added 2.6 million private sector jobs to our economy, and indications are that the economy is slowly improving. To anyone who thinks it’s been too slow - don’t you know you can’t turn the Titanic around in a day?
I voted for him before and I will vote for him again.

Obama’s not been perfect, but he’s still been pretty awesome given the circumstances.

what do i know but

rivertrash:

in my layperson’s opinion the thing that could/may beat Obama’s reelection chances are liberals/progressives not voting, so you know, do your part, jerks. he ain’t perfect but I like having him as the prez. I think most of us can agree that he is far preferable to the “alternative.” Don’t think for a second that the far right isn’t organized and fired up. They are ready to vote for their candidate (whoever it ends up being) just for the simple fact that they hate Obama. This is the party whose presidential candidates ALL support Personhood (the furthest right that the party’s been in years). I saw some of these people yesterday at the legislature. They are scary, misinformed, willfully ignorant right-wing Christians who spread misinformation and think that the entire country should follow their regressive agenda. We need to make sure they don’t dictate the policy and course of our country for the next four years. We need to be a loud, strong united voice. Congress matters too. Research your candidates and vote accordingly.

I’m happy to live in a solidly Democratic state for the first time in my life, and I had to register here to get residency for school, but I sort of wish I’d kept my Ohio registration. This is even more important for those of you in places like Ohio and Florida that are swing states.

I’ve always been a pragmatist; I make no apologies about that. Obama is the best realistic chance for regular people, in my opinion.

[emphasis @ the beginning mine]

Voting for anyone else because Obama hasn’t been liberal enough is not going to solve the problem. It’s gonna exacerbate it and probably just result in loosing the little bit of ground we’ve gained.

You don’t have to be a diehard Obama supporter to recognize that there is racism against the man. Even if you disagree with some of his policies or strategies, you know the loudest and most vicious against him haven’t arrived to that opinion from great reflection and reasoning about his platform, but kneejerk reaction to the color of his skin (not to mention his name and his father’s heritage).

^ All I been tryin’ to say since the end of 2007, up to this day.
