These are the glasses I got - purple! Have to wait on them to come in but pretty stoked about them.

Just spent well over and hour browsing new eye glass frames

My actual appointment is tomorrow, but I have to rush to work right after. I am very indecisive about choosing the frames I will wear for the next 2-4 years - that is some major commitment.

With help from the staff I have it narrowed to to 4 to revisit tomorrow. May go the clunkier, bolder black plastic frame route. Or may stay with the light frames. It could go either way. Or I will of course look around again and find something completely different.

(Also for fun I tried on some retro cat-eye glasses. I almost felt over with shock when I looked in the mirror and saw my mother’s senior class portrait looking back at me.)

I should’ve thought to ask if I could take photos wearing my final selection. I think 2 were by pro: design (who I’ve had before), 1 is CK and don’t know about the 4th.

Wanna help me choose rad new hair?

Of course you do!

So I am a short-hair lovin’ woman at heart. (Even though my hair usually manifests as kind of short to shoulder-lengthy because I don’t get it cut often enough).

I’d like to go REALLY REALLY SUPER SHORT this spring/summer. And I like love edgy styles. BUT I have a professional job so no extreme colors or too extreme styles.

Here are the 2 issues:

1. I have a round face. Not an oval face. Or a kind of round face. I mean my head is completely spherically round. Which limits what short styles look good.

2. I am pretty lazy about “doing my hair”. My expectation is that I can wake up and either: (a) take a shower, brush/comb and go (I kind of don’t currently own a hair dryer) or (b) wake up, brush/comb and go (I often shower in the evenings).

I suppose I might be able to work in a MINOR amount of work like rubbing some gel gunk in daily. But it better be awesome looking hair.

SO…. send me photos/suggestions/etc.!

READY GO with the ask or reply to the post or whatevs.

P.S. AND THANKS!

I’ve  been in the mood to update my ‘look’ lately, both casual & professional clothes. I’ve been kind of paying more attention to style stuff (online & just when I see people & think “oh I like that look”) but I can’t figure out what direction I want to go in. And when I try to go buy stuff I’m just not finding anything I like, whether I’m at a thrift store or ‘better’ second hand store, or new clothes type of store. Somehow I always just end up in jeans & t-shirts & maybe a hoodie.

Female RWU students respond to an op-ed about the ‘social effects’ of yoga pants

newwavefeminism:

transient-dreamer submitted:

I think this would definitely be worth your time to look at.  “Social effects” being a euphemism for behaviors perceived to be opposed to traditional conservative sensibilities.

The original opinion piece:

The female studens’ response:

That is ridiculous… yoga pants and leggings all the time and its NOT even that serious. I can garuntee no one can see my VAGINA when I wear yoga PANTS this ignorant asshole is just trying to get a pass for staring at people’s vaginas…

My favorite line of his:

Yoga pants make butts look good, and I can’t truly blame you yoga-pant wearers for wanting to flaunt. Part of me is, at heart, a yoga pants fan.

But the rest of me stubbornly objects. I can’t help but feel that women who wear yoga pants have a false modesty that says, “I want to show off my body, but I am too embarrassed to be overtly sexual, so I will just wear skin-tight, curve-revealing clothing to satisfy my exhibitionist desires in socially acceptable means.”

I get the sense that women wear yoga pants to feel sexy without getting judged as a slut, yet I see something demeaning in women wearing yoga pants and parading around their half-silhouetted vaginas all day.

That’s funny, because I get the sense that this is a thinly veild “I was staring at someone’s body who happened to be wearing Yoga pants and i’m angry that their body turned me on but i’m not ENTITLED to have sex with you on demand. How dare you wear comfortable clothing that turns me on but then you wont allow me to actually treat you like a sex object. ITS NOT FAIR, if you’re not going to sleep with me you’re NOT allowed to wear something that I find attractive!” And then he argues that it affects social culture? umm obviously the culture is fine because everyone fucking wears Yoga pants/leggings - your perverted ass is just hot and bothered and wants to make a big fucking deal about it.

NOT BUYING IT. College dudes have the most disgusting case of sexual entitlement I’ve ever fucking seen. And college publications have the most ridiculous wanna-be controversial opinion pieces written in them JUST for fucks sake.

and the response was great - an exerpt:

It’s not about yoga pants. It’s about the implications you, the author, don’t even know you made. Even something as simple as the construction of your article is offensive. You begin with the notion that Roger Williams University has less than rigorous academics. You then cite a specific example of a woman who you believe embodies that notion. Finally, you make an assumption about how these women, who are apparently dumb and get easy grades, think and feel. You imply that we should dress differently because it’s in your best interest. You tell us that we “don’t know how to express our sexuality” and you criticize us for the fact that your own eyes wander. Here’s a thought: Maybe women don’t dress the way they do to please men. Maybe they do it to feel comfortable, or sexy, or pretty. But, we are not going to make that assumption because we don’t know why individual women dress the way they do and neither do you.

in a slightly related note: I’ve recently decided to stop buying jeans altogether and ONLY buy leggings/yoga pants. Shits cheaper, more comfortable, and don’t tear when my thighs rub together :| #thickgirlproblems

Help me choose a dress!

So one of my good friends decided to be a bit fancy-schmancy for her birthday this year & host a cocktail party.

Option 1: red,white & black patterned dress

Option 2: slightly frilly black dress

Option 1 is more my style and a bit more fun & casual (this friend typically hosts keggers so it’s not necessarily that fancy)

Option 2 is more cocktail style and I think a bit more flattering?

ANYWAYS:

"Have you seen most of the plus-size sections out there? It’s horrifying. Whoever’s designing for plus-size doesn’t get it. The entire garment needs to be reconceived. You can’t just take a size 8 and make it larger. In my travels, I’ve been an advocate for larger women. I’ve been talking to designers, but only a half-dozen make an effort. Most say, ‘I don’t want a woman who’s a size 10 or 11 wearing my clothes.’ Well, shame on you! It’s not realistic. We need to address real women with real needs."

My assumption is that any ‘designer’ who can only design for sample sizes (for women or men) is just a hack that lacks both imagination and talent to do anything more.

Blow their minds this Christmas with a Seagull Bag!!!!!!

I just sent my dad a link to Seagull. He’s not big on internet sales so we’ll see what happens. But it really would blow my mind to get a Seagull Bag :)

I was almost decided my next pair of docs will be cherry red…then I randomly decided to try on the purple pair the other day for funsies (& because my fraternity’s colors are violet & gold) and now…IDK.
Plus also I just want to get a pair of work shoes.
AND still a Seagull bag (Actually kinda digging this small simple one).
But I have xmas presents to be buying this month. And the usual groceries and rent and such.
Oh, responsibility.

Apparently I’m becoming a vlogger. And I discuss pocket inequality between men & women’s clothing.
