A film* passes the The Bechdel Test if:

  1. It has at least two women in it, who,

  2. Talk to each other about,

  3. Something besides a man.

It’s named after Alison Bechdel, who popularised the rule—apparently formulated by her friend Liz Wallace—in the comic strip Dykes to Watch Out For.

Interesting (and not surprising) my favorite films tend to pass this test. Sad how many movies don’t. I love this site.
