For me, the Women’s Liberation Movement was and is about white women not being treated as second class citizens while the Womanist movement and movements for WOC (women of Color) is about being considered a citizen, ie. human.

The feminist movement has had a history riddled with white and class privilege. The circles I am most active in usually do a good job of being aware of this and working to change it, but it’s most definitely not perfect. As a white feminist, I obviously have the privilege with being able to ID as feminist and be comfortable working to change it.

I just really wanted to reblog this because it’s an important distinction - recognizing feminism’s issues with race - while fighting for justice, which we’re all doing.
